Blender 3D – better than 3D Studio Max and Maya?
I’m trying to decide if I should switch 3D modeling programs. I have been using Blender for over a year but I’ve also heard about Maya and 3D Studio Max. If you’ve used these programs before, how do they compare to Blender? How is the learning curve? How is the interface? etc. I want a program that is good with animation. I use Blender to create models for use within video games.

Help with 3D modeling?
Hello,
I am an IMVU developer. What I want to do is make avatar poses, but I am stuck because in order to do this I need to use a program that lets me make 3D models and then save them in .xaf format. The Creator Center on IMVU says they recommend 3D Studio MAX v7. Is it good, and where can I get it, do i have to pay? It is best if you are an IMVU developer yourself and has had experience with this. If not, that is OK, can you just tell me what free 3D program I should use to make 3D models and save them in .xaf
Thank you,

How do I convert these units?
If I know the length of something is 22 inches in real life, and that is equal to 95 (a different kind of unit) in 3d studio max– a 3d modeling program, how can I figure out what 1 inch in real life equals in this program?
I thought that I would have to first find out what 1 inch in real life equals in this program, but I am very slow today, and I don’t know how to do this. PLEASE HELP!

How are 3D objects modelled in video games?
Salutations, good sire!
After doing a little research, I found out that in order to make 3D objects in Direct3D and OpenGl, a programmer has to type a specific code defining the object i.e. its type, size, vertices, etc. This gives me the impression that game developers type in the code for every 3D model in a game. However, I know that game developers make use of a program known as 3D Studio Max to make their 3D models.
My first question is, do game developers type the code for every object in their games or do they use a program, such as 3D studio Max, to design the 3D models. Secondly, if they use a program, do they somehow convert the 3d models into a code or something else? Note: I do not require an in-depth tutorial but just a general overview, however any additional help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
So, if 3D models are made using programs such as 3D Studio Max, how are they implemented into the coding of the game using an API such as Direct3D and OpenGL.
What are the limitations and requirements for a CG model intended for use in a Video Game?
I am making a 3D model with 3D studio max that will be constrained to the requirements of next gen gaming and I wanted to know what requirements and or limitations I should work under for that model.
I will be making a multilegged character (more than 4-6 legs) with mechanical parts, I just wondered what the restrictions were on game models both character and landscape.
Ok, so what about if I want it to be consol friendly. Mesh or editable poly? How much of my detail should be reliant on the texture? Etc.
what programs do pro artists use for 3d modelling?
There’s daz and 3d studio max. But do they use such programs or do they build their characters from scratch?
